Choosing between Rosewood, Grand Hyatt, and SLS for your Baha Mar Hotel comes down to your budget, travel style, and the kind of resort experience you want. Get my firsthand take as a luxury travel advisor on each hotel’s atmosphere, pricing, pools, beach, and perks to help you decide which is the best fit for your trip.
Which Baha Mar Hotel Is Right for You?
Baha Mar has three hotels, countless restaurants, multiple pools, a water park, a casino, and plenty to keep you busy. So, which hotel should you book? Here’s how I explain it to my clients: Baha Mar is one big resort, but the hotel you choose determines the experience you come back to at the end of the day. Rosewood, Grand Hyatt, and SLS each have a distinct personality, and the best fit depends on your travel style and budget.
Rosewood Baha Mar: Refined and Relaxed
Rosewood is the most refined and understated of the three, with soft pastels, elegant finishes, and a quieter atmosphere. The casino feels less in-your-face here, and the hotel has its own pool areas, including the Lagoon Pool and Cabana Pool, along with Sense, the Rosewood Spa. During my visit, Rosewood’s beach area also felt less crowded, with loungers spaced farther apart. For families, the Explorers program serves children ages 4–12, and butler service is available in select suites and villas.

Best for: Couples, honeymooners, and families who want a quieter, more elevated home base.
Pricing: The lowest standard room rates I’ve personally seen start around $1,200 per night, with rates varying by season and room category. Rosewood is typically the biggest investment of the three, so I’d weigh how much time you’ll spend enjoying the hotel itself versus exploring the wider resort. As a preferred partner with Rosewood, I can help my clients compare room options and access eligible complimentary amenities, which may include breakfast, a property credit, and upgrade priority.
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar: The All Around Resort
Grand Hyatt has the biggest resort feel, with bolder jewel tones, six pools associated with the hotel, and a more family oriented atmosphere. It’s not just for families, though couples and groups of friends stay here, too. One thing to know: the casino is very front and center. You’ll notice it almost immediately when entering the main lobby. Depending on your feelings about casinos, that may be part of the fun or something you’d rather avoid.
The Reserve at Grand Hyatt is worth a look if you want an elevated accommodation experience. During my visit, I noticed a smaller, less crowded beach section and nicer pool loungers in that area. Grand Hyatt also has the Explorers Kids Club for children ages 3–12, available for an additional fee.

Best for: Families, multi generational trips, and travelers who want plenty of pool and activity options.
Pricing: Depending on the season, I’ve seen standard rooms start as low as $400 per night. That makes Grand Hyatt a more accessible starting point, although rates can rise considerably during peak travel periods. As a preferred partner with Hyatt, I can help compare available room categories and eligible amenities to see which option offers the best overall value.
SLS Baha Mar: Modern and Stylish
SLS has the most contemporary design of the three, with a sleek aesthetic and a younger overall feel. It’s a stylish option for couples or friends who want great pool time, cocktails, and nightlife nearby, without necessarily wanting a full party atmosphere all day. SLS has dedicated pool areas, including the Bungalow pool area and Privilege, an adults only pool. Sky bar on the 20th floor is another standout option for rooftop cocktails.

Best for: Couples, friends trips, and travelers who appreciate modern design and a stylish atmosphere.
Pricing: SLS is often priced a bit higher than Grand Hyatt, but promotions can change the equation. I’ve seen fourth night free offers and similar deals that bring the effective nightly rate below Grand Hyatt. I’ve also seen SLS rates start at a price point similar to Rosewood. As a preferred partner with SLS, I can help my clients compare current promotions and access eligible complimentary amenities. This is a hotel where checking the actual rates for your dates can make a big difference.

What Else You Should Know About Baha Mar Hotels
The Water Park and Wildlife Experiences
Baha Bay is a 15 acre water park with slides, raft rides, a wave pool, an action river, a surf simulator, and splash areas for younger children. General water park access is included for hotel guests during their stay. Cabanas, food, drinks, and some premium experiences cost extra. The resort also has a wildlife sanctuary with flamingos, sea turtles, stingrays, nurse sharks, macaws, and other animals. Some specialized animal encounters require reservations and additional fees. These experiences are a big part of Baha Mar’s appeal for families.

The Casino and Nightlife
Baha Mar has a bit of a mini Vegas feel: connected resorts, lots of restaurants and bars, entertainment, and a casino that’s a prominent part of the experience. Grand Hyatt feels the most casino forward when you enter the lobby. It’s less in-your-face at SLS, while Rosewood feels more removed from the action. For nightlife, there’s BOND nightclub, rooftop cocktails at Sky bar, and Privilege’s adults only pool experience on select days. If you’d rather have a quiet dinner and an early night, that’s an option, too.
My point: if casinos aren’t your thing and you’re looking for a secluded beach resort, consider whether Baha Mar is the right destination before deciding which hotel to book.

The Beach at Baha Mar
I’ll be honest: I wouldn’t choose Baha Mar solely for the beach. During my visit, it was very windy, the water was choppy, and no one was swimming in the ocean. Conditions vary of course, but the overall beach experience also doesn’t feel especially private or exclusive because the resort is so large. Rosewood’s beach area felt less crowded, and The Reserve at Grand Hyatt has a smaller beach section that felt less busy during my visit. If calm ocean swimming and a secluded beach are your top priorities, that’s worth considering.
Which Baha Mar Hotel Would I Recommend?
- Rosewood: For a quieter, refined experience where service and the hotel atmosphere are a priority.
- Grand Hyatt: For families and travelers who want lots of activities and a more approachable starting price.
- SLS: For modern design, stylish pool areas, and a trip that might include rooftop cocktails and nightlife.
There isn’t one hotel that’s always the best value. I’ve seen pricing and promotions change the comparison enough that the most expensive option isn’t necessarily the one that makes the most sense. As a preferred partner with all three hotel brands, I can help my clients compare rates, room categories, promotions, and eligible complimentary amenities. The goal is to find the one that’s right for you. If you’re considering Baha Mar, I can help you narrow down the best option.
